Android 5.0 Lollipop Review

Google has never been behind in releasing updates, especially beautiful ones. It launched Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is the latest release of Android, on November 3, 2014, 6 days earlier than this blog post was made.

You will simply love the kind of mobile OS Google has released, the best till now, easy, smooth, elegant, beautiful or should I say, no words to say! This version of Android, titled as 'Android L' is full of things a person would be amazed by.

To start with, the home screen, the screen you land on after turning on the mobile phone or tablet. The home screen of Android 5.0 is full of material design, flat icons, and beautiful home screen, with a flat and responsive wallpaper.

This video introduces you to the material design of Android:

The first thing anyone would notice here is the navigation button, softer and smaller, which please the eyes a lot:

Then comes the  apps menu, a thing one wouldn't expect is that it is much like a folder and doesn't open the menu, though much confusing with an actual folder, it is still a good move by Android developers.

They have made the header transparent, and much compact, this makes it much more attractive, every single move that Google has taken here has produced a good result. With sliding and scrolling options in the header, it is one way to go! :D

Maybe I forgot about the lock screen, it too looks beautiful enough, that too with lesser content. Google has taken a step further by adding a feature that shows you notifications even on the lock screen, I actually don't like this feature as anyone can turn on the phone and see the notifications I got:

Account synchronizing has taken a step much beautiful, here is a screenshot:

One of my most favourite features in this version is the no disturbance feature, if you are playing a game, or doing something you cannot afford to miss, it simply gives you notification on incoming calls directly on the header, here's a screenshot from Expert Reviews:

The keyboards have been significantly modified, with some gap between alphabet keys in 4.4 KitKat to no visible borders between keys in 5.0 Lollipop, looks delicious :P :

If you are a mobile phone user, the dialer and contacts are sure to impress you. Though these two vary from Manufacturer to manufacturer, you can get a little bit confused, but the base would be same in all.

The new Android 5.0's got a battery saver, that sucks every bit of your battery to extend it by upto 90 minutes!!!! It was introduced under the Project Volta by Google which aims to extend the battery life of devices.

The new calculator is pretty, it's simply materialistic with features much like that of the iOS 8.1. It has some pretty elegant colours:

Although you can change many settings directly from the header, I like to do it from the settings tab, much because of it's fluid design:

Like Jellybean and KitKat, Lollipop has it's secret game as well, much like Flappy Birds. It hopes fill the gap left by Flappy Bird:

And in the end, my favourite update, the multitasking, much better , beautiful and responsive and materialistic than all the versions combined:

This is the unprecedented king of Android versions! My overall rating: 4.9 stars out of 5(Reduce 0.1 star for the lock screen notifications)

A short note: LG G3 is gonna get the Android 5.0 first after HTC and other Google partners, be ready to grab it before it runs out!
